Experts agree that the best practice for teaching children with dyslexia is to teach them by engaging all their senses (multi-sensory teaching). For this reason, I use the Barton Reading & Spelling System which incorporates visuals, hands-on manipulatives, motion, body movement, and auditory elements woven throughout each session. I remain flexible and adaptable to meet my students’ needs, while enthusiastically encouraging their progress.
The Barton Reading & Spelling System is a comprehensive, evidence-based approach devised to equip individuals of all ages with the essential tools to overcome the challenges associated with dyslexia and other learning differences. Created by the esteemed educator Susan Barton, this system adopts a multi-sensory, structured, and sequential approach to learning, ensuring that each phase builds upon the preceding one, resulting in steady advancement and enhanced self-assurance. Barton sessions can be held online or in person.
